I have to agree with christopher, there are a huge number of free templates these days and a lot of them are designed well aswell. I would imagen it to be difficult to make much money creating templates.

Is there still money to be made selling WP themes? It seems there are so many great free thems and just as many freelance designers it seems that it would a tough market to break into and make a living from.

One thing: In selling WP themes, what about child themes? I usually kit out child themes for the Hybrid theme-framework, mostly for personal projects. Now that I am thinking of selling WP themes individually, do you think it is a good idea to build on a framework or to write a stand alone theme?

One can point out in the child theme that the parent theme is required, which adds more work for the client… but having a well thought-out framework, such as the Hybrid framework, has numerous benefits. Any thoughts on this?
