This would be great for me. I use jQuery pretty heavily but have really been meaning to expand my ability to javascript more generally.

  • RyanOD

I’m a firm believer that more programming books should aim for ‘less is more’. Books that are >500 pages are just silly. They aren’t books to be read…they are references for looking things up.

I’ve extracted the most value out of books like DOM Scripting by Jeremy Keith and PHP Object Oriented Solutions by David Powers (both friends of ED titles). Both are just over 300 pages and focus on small projects.

Good on Marijn Haverbeke for keeping this title within reasonable size limits.

    Just my opinion…

I have been using JS for a few years now. Mostly jQuery, however, over the course of the last year, I have started to pull apart the source code of libraries. While I am able to make sense of it all.. well sort of.. I still do not have a solid understanding or know the core concepts of using javascript. Being that I am a UI developer, you would think I should by now.. please help..

  • Michael

I’d be pleased, if I own one.

JavaScript is like English. Millions use it daily, but very few use it well.

I have taught Test-driven Development to middle schoolers, and I would love to teach them this fabulous, expressive, dynamic language. They’ll learn to use JavaScript beautifully, and yes, eloquently. I promise.
