Flock is also available on Linux. If you are using an Ubuntu related distro:

I personally use Windows Live Writer religiously. It has a modest but sufficient range of plugins and is incredibly capable out of the box. Couldn’t imagine finding anything much better.

Saw something wrong in the article:
RapidBlog is a plugin for RapidWeaver. So RapidWeaver (www.realmacsoftware.com) is the desktop blogging app and not RapidBlog. RapidWeaver has its own blog option, but the plugin RapidBlog provides more options.

TextMate offers blogging option. The developer has a screencast about it (iTunes/TextMate…).
And if your blog is about content (!), Scrivener can only help, with HTML and Markdown export options to… TextMate ; )

How about a list of blogging / story editors that you can store all your notes in like Scrivenner?
