In July, we introduced a new membership club for designers and creatives — Creative VIP. Since the launch, we’ve been working hard to increase the collection of exclusive discounts, benefits, and resources offered to members. MediaTemple, FontDeck, GatherContent, PixelKit — the list of benefits for our members keeps growing every week.
It’s been a pleasure getting to know some of our first members over the past few months, and we’ve been thrilled with the response so far. We’d like to give you a quick update on some of our new benefits and discounts today, as well as a one-off, 48 hour discount, if you’re thinking of joining.September 30th, 2013 Posted in Design Shack

We’ve had a very busy few months behind the scenes at Design Shack, working away on various changes and improvements to the site. First and foremost is a brand new design — it’s cleaner, faster, responsive, and hopefully a much more enjoyable experience for you to use!
Second is a host of new features for Design Shack members. These include vastly improved submission of your designs, keyboard navigation, an “Activity Stream”, the ability to save designs to a “Collection”, and your very own profile on the site.
We’re really proud of this latest iteration of Design Shack, so read on to find out more about our thinking behind some of the new features!November 19th, 2012 Posted in Design Shack

There’s nothing more concerning than receiving an email from someone — completely out of the blue — to let you know that they think your domain name may have been stolen. Particularly when a quick Whois search changes the initial feeling of complete denial to extreme concern…
Last Thursday, I found out that someone had taken it upon themselves to “hijack” our primary domain name — designshack.net — and transfer it away from our registrar. We’re working hard to reverse the process, and I’ll be documenting the current situation here.December 5th, 2011 Posted in Design Shack
Today we’re going to discuss the importance of intentionally directing user attention to the portions of the page merit it most. We’ll discuss how people are prone to read a page and how we can bend that tendency to our own will.
We’ll also take a look at an awesome product that will enable you to get a quick snapshot of how a typical user will view your designs so that you can begin to improve your layouts right away.November 1st, 2011 Posted in Design Shack
