Panoetic uses a textured backgrounds and lots of random but interesting artwork scattered around the page to achieve and almost scrapbook-ish look. The animating thumbnail hover effect is particularly fun to play with and kept me busy for a solid thirty seconds trying to activate all of them at once.

A fun looking design with bright colors and custom illustrations. I like the use of the MacBook to hold the image gallery as well as the implementation of Museo through @font-face.

This is a very simple site with two key design elements: typography and color. The type choices are really quite nice, I like the inset letterpress look. The colors are mostly uniform but still quite bright and friendly.

This site uses dark colors and grunge textures to set a young and edgy vibe. I particularly liked the hover effect on the navigation area. It stretches all the way to the top and is sort of a faux lighting illusion.

A simple site with a nice image scroller and icon based navigation. The noisy background texture almost feels like cardboard and the drop shadows are handled really well, giving the elements a floating look.

A really great looking site with clean lines, nice typography and excellent icon design. The treatment of the headline is particularly nice along with the large footer that contrasts heavily with the rest of the page.

This site features a beautiful and unique underwater theme with excellent illustrations and lighting effects. The vertical navigation is a nice touch along with the bubble over the head of the Twitter bird.

This site features dark colors, rounded corners and a large slider that takes center stage. I really like the overall aesthetic, there is plenty to grab your attention but the site maintains a very professional look.

This site features a beautiful retro design with an attention to detail that blows me away. All the borders and background art are really intricate and eye-catching, the typography is spot on, and the character art is excellent. Definitely one of the more successfully unique designs I have seen in a while!
Posted in Web Design → MiscPixelmator is a popular alternative to Adobe Photoshop. The page design really shows off the Pixelmator interface well and features plenty of really stellar icon design examples. As you scroll down near the bottom the layout is broken up in modules to clearly delineate features.

I really like the soft abstract background on this site and the rounded content area with its transparent border. The blue color scheme works great with the grays and makes for a really classy looking page. Overall, a refreshingly different design!

The online portfolio of Steven Little. The large typography is very attractive and features a subtle letterpress effect. The navigation icons in the top right are also a nice touch and feature a cool spotlight hover effect.

The portfolio site of Tobias Ahlin, a web, print and icon designer. Aside from the beautiful work on display, I love the gray and black color palette and the dynamically reshuffling gallery.

This page features a noisy textured background with a dramatic vignette that is ideally suited to draw your attention toward the big photographs in the center. The typography on the page is quite nice and worth noting as well.
