This site features a beautiful retro design with an attention to detail that blows me away. All the borders and background art are really intricate and eye-catching, the typography is spot on, and the character art is excellent. Definitely one of the more successfully unique designs I have seen in a while!

The page design really shows off the Pixelmator interface well and features plenty of really stellar icon design examples. As you scroll down near the bottom the layout is broken up in modules to clearly delineate features.

A really nice, clean web store with a perfect color scheme and beautiful product shots. The typography is really refined and the shopping experience quite streamlined. Overall, a refreshingly different e-commerce design.

Three60 is a two man digital design company with a decent sense of humor. I absolutely love the animated pencil rocket ship on the blueprint background. It is a completely original graphic that really makes the site memorable. Other nice touches include the slowly changing customer testimonials in the top right and the subtle background gradient.

The portfolio of Charlie Gentle, a Web Developer working in Nottingham, UK. The dark background contrasts nicely with the large white typography and the white sketchy elements. I am a sucker for side scrolling sites so this one gets a bonus for using this method. Also, as you scroll through the site, the bokeh at the top is animated with a 3D parallax effect that is just excellent.

Idea Foundry is a series of web training classes based in Michigan. The color scheme is attractive and professional, the typography is well planned and the icon strip on the right side of the page makes for a quick visual read of a lot of information. Overall a pretty great design.

Spoon Juice is a beautiful iPhone developer website with a dark background containing a subtle spectrum, nice glowing typography and great icon design. The animations on the main slider are also really excellent. Each panel expands as you click on it and the icon within enlarges with a smooth effect.

This site features the heavy use of black and gray to attempt to create a classy look and feel. The result is an absolutely beautiful page with tons of visual interest in the form of subtle gradients and simple icons. Excellent inspiration for anyone interested in using black in web design!

I have seen enough messy desk designs to last a lifetime but usually they are an overhead view. This refreshing take on the idea utilizes a straight on view and shows tons of attention to detail. The artwork is really beautiful on the home page and continues throughout the various pages.

This site is wonderfully dark with neat lighting effects that really add to the dramatic feeling. This aesthetic really showcases the artwork well in conjunction with a nice 3D effect. The typography is really nice and original as well and utilizes cufon to bring in custom fonts.

The online portfolio of designer James Childers. This site features an strongly textured background and muted content and a perfect color scheme. All of this lends to the faded look that the designer is going for. As you hover over the images, their opacity slowly transitions to 100%.

A simple coming soon page for a new GTD Mac application. The simplicity here is perfect for the intentions of the page. The developers just want to give you a sneak peak so they avoid distracting you with lots of copy or feature explanations, just a single screenshot set against a dark background.

This is the online portfolio of web designer Blake Allen. This site design is all about one thing: typography. It is the primary, and nearly the only, design element on the home page. The simple, Helvetica-centric page uses high contrast black and white content and varying font sizes to distinguish content into a clear visual hierarchy.
