Proxart
This design style is fairly trendy right now and I am beginning to see it more and more. The basic premise is a very modular, grid layout with large squares placed over a beautiful photographic background. The end product is really nice.

Pascal Bajorat
The header on this site steals the show. It features a great cityscape photo with an animated transition. Notice how the text on the photographic background has been treated. It is not easy to place text over such a busy photo but this solution is both easy and attractive.

This site offers free Adobe Fireworks resources for designers. The site has a fairly simple design, but the layout and colors are really nice and it does not look like your typical downloads site.

A nice wide website that is bold enough to stretch out to 1,200 pixels. The gradient in the header is very attractive, the photo slideshow is great and the scrapbook edge treatment finishes off the look nicely.
