Looking great in black, this site features a simple artwork display area with a welcome message. There is lots of subtle texture work here that really brings a finished look to the site.

This site uses an awesome vintage photograph theme with birds and clouds. The clouds provide an animated background which stays fixed when you scroll as the foreground content glides over it. A nice effect!

This site features an excellently original design with a Photoshop empty canvas stretched into a 3D environment. I love the visual communication here. You do not need a single word to see that the site is for a female designer who is a little on the goofy side.

Minimalism is tricky to pull off and this site does a fairly good job of presenting a simple but attractive page. The alignment of various items definitely needs a little work but overall it is a great looking page.

The dark color scheme and use of gradients here makes for a really classy look and feel. The image slider is quite unique and definitely gives the impression of custom design to the site.

A nice looking portfolio page that uses a shelf effect and an image slider to really show of the work well. I am not crazy about the giant sticky and would like to see more of the chalk drawing behind it but otherwise I think the designers have done a great job.

A classy dark theme with great looking minimal icons. I really enjoyed the original use of a spectrum here. The paint splat look can easily come off as cheesy but this site makes it look great!

Word Refuge offers copywriting and SEO services. Their site is done in a historical revolutionary war era style and is absolutely beautiful. I love the illustrations, texture and typography. A great example of how to really push a theme idea to the limit.

This is one crazy site concept. There is a giant rooster head, some Tim Burton-esque 3D typography, apstract tentacle shapes, vertical lines and star bursts. From just reading that description you would picture a hideous site but it actually looks great! Nice work.

A simple two column layout with a large header graphic. I like the heavy use of icons throughout the page and the pop of bright color in all the right places.

Frogs Themes utilizes lots of great looking browser page thumbnails, both large in the header and small in thumbnails throughout the page. The enlarging hover effects on the thumbnails is nice as well as the ChunkFive typography throughout.

This page uses a big bold header followed by a grid of thumbnails and finally ending an oversized footer. The floral graphics in the header are unique and well done and ultimately won me over for this inclusion.

A strong but simple page design utilizing a single column. I love how big everything on the page seems. Every element on display takes up nearly the full browser window and the typography is well above normal.

A really simple site design overall but the work on display here is quite superb. The artwork combined with the typography remind me a lot of some of the magazine work you saw throughout the early to mid 90s.

Organic themes is an excellently design site with a beautiful header and lots of nice graphical elements. Notice how there are only one or two simple leaf shapes that have been repeated throughout the site at different rotations to really carry the theme. Simple and effective!

A unique looking site with interesting typography and lots or original pencil sketch work. There are a few great hover effects on the page and the footer design is really attractive. I love seeing something that breaks the mold as much as this site does.

Theory Design is the online portfolio of Ryan McCaster, a designer from Vancouver. The rough texture watercolor background is the star of this site, perfectly accented by all of the inset letterpress effects on the graphical elements.

An absolutely beautiful site with an incredible attention to detail a several extremely well designed areas on the page. I love the textures throughout as well as the 3D typography, attractive icon design and smooth animations.

Great icon design is a great way to make a bold and attractive statement. This site uses very large icons as the principal graphic element, which increases the perceived quality of the design as a whole. The colors and textures also work very well together in this design.

Great use of color and texture to create a background with a subtle hint of reality. On a photography site you simply cannot go wrong with a large slideshow front and center. This one showcases her work very well and succeeds in grabbing your attention immediately.
