I cannot decide if this site is hideous or beautiful, but it is certainly unique! The out of control illustrations cover every inch of the long homepage and the head of the monster at the top pops off and stays with you as you scroll!

This friendly looking site features a rich primary color palette and a very web 2.0 feel. The sketches over the photograph make the space more inviting and lighthearted and the use of icons really helps break up the content into manageable chucnks.

A really great looking portfolio page with super thin typography, a subtle background texture and even a little bit of humor. I love the contrast of the yellow on the black. These two colors always make a bold statement when combined and the result here is a fairly classy theme.

An interesting take on the grid-based portfolio. I like the hover effects and the scattered client quotes. Those really help to provide comfort for potential clients who might be wary about hiring a designer they are not familiar with.

The online portfolio of designer James Childers. This site features an strongly textured background and muted content and a perfect color scheme. All of this lends to the faded look that the designer is going for. As you hover over the images, their opacity slowly transitions to 100%.

This design features a large slideshow as the primary visual. The bright colors stand out really well against the muted gray background. Notice that the little text above the slideshow has a letterpress effect but still remains live. An excellent use of CSS to create traditional Photoshop text effects.
