A great portfolio site that effectively uses coloured borders to grab your attention. The logo is simple but is recognisable and makes a good statement. I particularly like the fun central illustration.

A relatively simple site that uses its typefaces and layout to draw you in. The designers initial in the to left is great but could be larger while there is a certain lack of colour. I do really like the custom designed Twitter icon however.

As the name implies, this site posts funny videos featuring animals. I really like the logo design and the textured background is not bad either. Overall, a fairly unique design for a video site.

A really nice looking coming soon page with fun illustrations, bright colors and a subtle depth of field illusion. It is a nice touch that the water bottle is an indicator of how complete the site is at this point.

This site uses an awesome full-page slideshow an beautiful photography. Sometimes the best design statement can be made by just showcasing great photography and minimizing the actual UI.

This site has an absolutely beautiful design with perfect colors, textures and graphics. The content in the header automatically slides up in a smooth transition and is an excellent display of all the services offered by the company.

This page header is bursting with awesome graphics screened and faded onto the background texture. I like the mixture of city and nature graphics in the same space. This reinforces the coexistence element of the message.

This friendly looking site features a rich primary color palette and a very web 2.0 feel. The sketches over the photograph make the space more inviting and lighthearted and the use of icons really helps break up the content into manageable chucnks.

This site features a ton of information on a single page, but the info has been organized in a thoughtful and effective manner to avoid a cluttered look. I particularly like the little interactive slider module on the right side of the page.

This site is dominated by a large image slider containing extremely simple but attractive graphics. If you scroll to the bottom you will see the features listed in yet another slider with large great looking icons.

This site uses an awesome vintage photograph theme with birds and clouds. The clouds provide an animated background which stays fixed when you scroll as the foreground content glides over it. A nice effect!

Word Refuge offers copywriting and SEO services. Their site is done in a historical revolutionary war era style and is absolutely beautiful. I love the illustrations, texture and typography. A great example of how to really push a theme idea to the limit.

This is a great site featuring a dark and colorful page design feels really unique. The icon is superb and the color scheme is spot on. Overall a great piece of design.

I love everything about this design. The bright background color, the grunge graphics, the subtle use of texture, it all comes together beautifully. The typography is also quite nice. Condensed fonts often look stylish in all caps and I think it works particularly well for this design.

Pete Lacey is moving to Copenhagen and created this site to help him land a job. I love the unique layout with the three columns and large photographic area. I also like the selective use of color scattered around the page.

The web design sketchbook is a book containing various tools for mocking up websites. The website features a nice a simple design that showcases the product well. It is nice to see such a simple layout applied to a product website, which are commonly quite busy.
