An relatively subdued site for an interesting web and iPhone App. The two tone background works well and allows the visitor to immediately take in the important stuff before heading on the the rest of the content. I love the custom Twitter, Facebook and Youtube icons!

A straightforward but effective site for The Queenstown Trail. The use of photography is excellent and really works to grab your attention. The clear typeface makes the site easily accessible while the trail sign adds a nice touch of character!

A clean and straightforward site for a multimedia designer. I like the use of a relatively common layout, it allows the visitor to immediately find their way. The typeface used for \'Steve Brown\' is wonderful and makes a great statement about his design philosophy!

An understated but stylish site for a digital designer. The use of a textured background works really well, while the plain white text on black is clear and makes a bold statement. The subtle use of colour in the header bar works well offset against the confident black and white of the rest of the page.

A themeforest page for a Paradise Proffesional xHTML Template. Themeforest is a good looking site and this particular entry effectively uses a single image to get across the vital stats of their template. I like the custom design of the RSS, Twitter, and Facebook links.

A slick portfolio site that features a massive central slideshow! The use of a scrolling gallery of recent work is excellent and perfectly showcases the company\'s diversity. I like the use of green to add interest to an otherwise monochrome layout!

The personal portfolio of James O\'Connell features a screen-wide slideshow that makes a great impact. As a designer it\'s vital to showcase your work and design philosophy to any prospective clients and this is achieved here using a gallery of James\' recent work. I like the subtlety of the dark grey text on the light grey background. It\'s not something that immediately makes sense, but that works perfectly to allow the colourful designs to grab your attention.

A good and intriguing site for a web design agency. I particularly like the colourful doodles and friendly typeface! The spacing of everything does bother me slightly but it\\\'s made up for by the textured background and strokes of colour.

An excellent portfolio site that immediately draws you in! The use of a gallery as the central focus works and brings colour and life to the site. I particularly like the little details that make all the difference. Details such as the arrows that guide you in and the ripped effect of the gallery items.

A beautiful site for a handmade clothing company that uses photography extremely effectively! I love the hand-drawn logo and the lightness of the site.

An excellent site for a web design company that adequately showcases its ability to create beautiful graphics and websites. The use of a portfolio slideshow is a common but effective tool for holding the visitors attention! I love the portrayal of the simple company logo on a scrap of notepaper!

A beautiful site that collects together free and premium photoshop brushes. The background is subtle yet gorgeous, while the use of a gallery is excellent and really grabs your attention! I absolutely love the care that has gone into the logo design!

A clear and useable site for a website testing company. It\'s not essential for a site that is more functional (like this one) to be pretty, but it\'s still worth the effort. The colour palette is plain but works and it must be said that the layout and use of typeface is good.

An interesting site for a web portfolio. The graphic on the right is intriguing and certainly makes an impact but the overall spacing feels slightly off - the redundant gap beneath the header is screaming for attention! Overall, the black and silver approach is stylish but could benefit from some colour.

An excellent site for a web designer! I love the slideshow of graphic illustrations and their sense of humour. Great use of colour throughout and immediately interesting for visitors!

I\'m in two minds about this site. I like the simplistic header and the contrasting use of orange against the white of the background, but the central slideshow doesn\'t quite fit with the overall design. Having a showcase of your company\'s portfolio is an effective way to hold a visitors attention but in this example it almost stands out too much!

A wed design site that makes a stunning, and immediate, impact! The central logo grabs your attention while the important content falls effectively into a relatively common layout. I particularly like the supreme attention to graphical detail.
Posted in Web Design → DesignA beautifully minimal site for a web design and development company. The brutally sparing use of content allows the viewer to immediately take in the fundamentals of the site. I really like the use of brushstroke colour at the bottom, waves in an ocean of colour.

A simple but effective portfolio site. The design showcase in the centre works well, as does the gallery section below. I like the uncluttered nature of the site and the manageable content.
